A Glimpse of …

Dentists say that the most important part of tooth care happens at home. Brushing and flossing properly, along with regular dental checkups, can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

It is also said that the minimum time you should spend brushing your teeth is 2 minutes twice a day (1 minute for the upper teeth and another minute for the lower teeth). For grown-ups this is just easy but for little kids, like mine, a 4-year old – rushing is one of their talents in toothbrushing.

Last May 2009, Zaza received a singing toothbrush from church. The song played for 2 minutes and a kid who is musically inclined would continue brushing their teeth in the tune/beat of the song, which I thought was a good idea – to have this kind of toothbrush for all the kids. Since toothbrushes should be changed every 3 months. I already ditched Zaza’s old singing one. Just in time the song stopped playing already – because the batteries ran out and I don’t see any way to replace them. I have been going around looking for a replacement but couldn’t find any here in Cagayan de Oro. Then I found FIREFLY TOOTHBRUSH by DR. FRESH in one of the CDOBloggers‘ member’s blog. FIREFLY TOOTHBRUSH by DR. FRESH almost covers a similar concept with the old toothbrush we got but using a flashing light instead of a song – more like a firefly – thus its name. Toothbrush/toothpaste companies having this toothbrush feature would really help encourage kids to brush their teeth by using the flashing light – it’s easier to instruct the kids to wait for the firefly light to stop before they stop brushing their teeth than that of explaining to them why it should take them a little bit longer.
