April 21, 2010 – I got a message from Missy Bon Bon’s Owner Mr. Henrik Yu, thru Facebook, asking if the Cagayan de Oro Bloggers were available and interested for a breakfast meeting at Missy Bon Bon, Cagayan de Oro. Of course I didn’t hesitate to reply, answered all his questions and informed CDOBloggers officers regarding the invite. Everyone was just so excited to visit the place and try their goodies. So we posted at the CDOBloggers Site the said meeting and a lot of bloggers responded. We set the meeting on a Saturday morning, so a lot of bloggers could attend.

April 24, 2010 – The Day. I arrived there just on time. Everyone at Missy Bon Bon Breadshop greeted us a very good morning including Mr. Yu. I then introduced Mr. Yu to fellow CDOBloggers who were already present there. We registered and had personalized, Missy Bon Bon themed, ID tags. We chit-chatted for awhile with Mr. Yu and we started ordering breakfast.

CDOBloggers Registration Form at Missy Bon Bon

As soon as we had placed our orders, we continued talking with Mr. Yu, introduced him to the other bloggers who had just arrived. Including CDOBloggers President ChiQ Montes.

CDOBloggers President ChiQ Montes meets Missy Bon Bon Owner Mr. Henrik Yu

While waiting for our orders, we took photos of the very cozy, unique, and relaxing ambiance that Missy Bon Bon has. We also got to witness them putting in freshly baked bread on display.

Freshly baked Pork Adobo Roll at Missy Bon Bon

After a few minutes, our orders started arriving. I had the Ham Breakfast and Monks’ Blend Premium Coffee. I have to say the tomato side dish is just heavenly! I wonder if we could just order additional side dish. hehehe. I might try and check it out next time. I just loved it. Below are some photos of what I had.

Right after our very sumptuous breakfast, we took more photos of the place that was then starting to get crowded with customers. We also had a group shot with owner Mr. Yu.

CDOBloggers with Missy Bon Bon owner Mr. Henrik Yu

Before we headed out their patio for our own meeting, we were surprised of the goodie bags we received from Missy Bon Bon. So we didn’t let the opportunity pass, we fashioned it while there.

While we were waiting for the rest to wrap up their photo shoots and buying of treats for their homes, we didn’t miss the chance of trying their Gelatos! They’re serving 18 distinct flavors of it. And it was what we had the whole meeting.

Since I knew a few DJ’s personally, I had to do something. I asked Papa Ardie of Hot106.3FM to give us a time slot and we’d document his event in exchange so he agreed. I relayed the good news to the fellow core group and true enough, our CDOBloggers President ChiQ Montes with Edward Ragpalla II was interviewed regarding the MBS3 event and had the chance to invite the Kagay-anon listeners tuning in the station.

Taza Coffee at around 12noon.

After the interview is where all the stress started. In exchange for that interview and continuous plugging, I would have to make an AVP for their event Tatak Environmentalist, One Shirt One Tree Project that was due in 2 days. I had no other way but to dose myself of brewed coffee and had gone back smoking. Edu, also known as Magman, was there for moral support. (thanks bai, if wala pako ka thank you). He documented that day, from that morning til evening. He too was stressed with me that he finished his cigarette pack in less than 2hrs. LOL. While I was working, he took photos of Rosario Strip.

Taza Coffee at around 9pm

I guess that’s about all it. So Magman, we now have an official date and place of where and when we started back smoking. LOLZ

I saw this post yesterday at Gold Star Daily’s website. One of my boss’ house help asked me if there was any truth about all these cause she’s scared when she saw it on paper.

——————————————-

Dated March 4, 2010 by MIKE BAÑOS titled 79 MORE DAYS TO ‘DOOMSDAY’

UNLESS it rains soon, the National Power Corp. (Napocor) would be forced to shut down the Agus and Pulangi systems depriving Mindanao of 53 percent of its installed power capacity.

“We only have 81 centimeter to go before we reach the shutdown point,” said Maximo Adiong, head of Napocor’s Mindanao Regional Control Center (MRC) in Iligan, last Tuesday. “At one centimeter a day, we have 81 days of operation left [from Tuesday] before we have to close down our hydroelectric plants to keep them from being damaged by silt.”

MRC is the central hub which oversees Mindanao’s five area control centers in Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Davao, General Santos and Iligan.

Adiong said the water flow in the Agus complex is down from 130 cubic meters per second (cms) to only 30 cms with its water elevation down to 699.15 meters as of Feb. 27, a mere 81 centimeters from its shutdown point.

‘‘We can’t even control the flow of water anymore since its level is already well below our control gates,” Adiong said.

From a total rated capacity of 727 mw as of March 2, Agus complex can now only deliver 110 mw while the Pulangi complex in Bukidnon which is rated at 255 mw can now only supply 40 mw.

The Mindanao grid has a total contracted capacity of 1,334 mw to distribution utilities, industries and electric cooperatives but is now capable of supplying 825 mw as of March 2 with a deficit of 825 mw, said Elsa Mercado, Napocor manager for marketing and commercial relations.

In a tumultuous meeting hosted by the Distribution Management Committee here last Tuesday, power customers had no recourse but to agree to a new scheme coordinated by committee which allocates them with a load capacity to maintain rather than to shed as in the previous two months.

“We can only ensure delivery of 600 mw to the grid at this critical time so we are asking all consumers to help us prevent the grid from collapsing by complying with their pro-rated loads,” said Eugene Bicar of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP). “Should any of our consumers persist in operating beyond their assigned loads to maintain, we have no recourse but to cut them off for the greater good of the many.”

However, utilities and cooperatives insist it is the responsibility of Napocor to secure additional sources of power to deliver the contracted demand they have committed to deliver to all customers.

Many industries said there is no way they can further curtail demand under the 50-percent capacity scenario presented by Napocor and NGCP other than to shut down completely.

The committee agreed to look into this concern in its next meeting to address the plight of the stricken industries.

The Cagayan de Oro Bloggers (CDO Bloggers) group is set to play host to the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which will be held on October 24, 2009. With the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw,” the MBS 3 aims to uphold the beauty and strength of the island and to expunge the negative notions the world has about it.

(Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines – October 21, 2009) – It’s all systems go for the Cagayan de Oro Bloggers (CDO Bloggers) as they play host to the much-awaited Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, an annual gathering of Mindanao-based bloggers, IT industry experts, community leaders and new media advocates, on October 24, 2009 at Pearlmont Inn, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City. Roughly 300 bloggers are expected to attend this year’s summit.

With the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw,” (Changing The Way People See Mindanao) the event aims to uphold the beauty and strength of Mindanao, to highlight the diverse cultures and fascinating tourist spots that are uniquely Mindanao and to provide a platform where bloggers and other new media practitioners can discuss concerns related to Mindanao – all with the help of new and emerging technologies.

“Mindanao is the home of everything fascinating or in bloggers’ lingo – bloggable. Through the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, it is the hope of the CDO Bloggers, along with our partners and generous sponsors, that we listen to knowledgeable resource persons, meet other Mindanaoan bloggers, share and maximize all of our skills and resources and adopt tried and tested practices that can help us to fully promote Mindanao and for us to become better bloggers as well,” emphasized Chiq Montes, president of CDO Bloggers.

“Of course, we also want all of the participants to have a good time and experience the sights and sounds of Cagayan de Oro,” Montes added. Montes said that apart from Mindanaoan bloggers, the summit will also see the participation of some bloggers from Luzon and Visayas.

Expected to grace the summit are United States Embassy’s new Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett, Atty. Adel Tamano, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula.

Considered unprecedented in the Philippine blogosphere, a top ranking United States Embassy dignitary is set to deliver the keynote address. Bassett’s trip to CDO will be her first trip to Mindanao since assuming office in June. She previously served as DCM in Mexico.

“We are deeply honored. We’re certain that the summit participants will be delighted to meet her and we can’t wait for her to see our beautiful city,” Montes said.

Other speakers during the whole-day affair include Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Tinnex Jaraula, Agusan Lone District Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Atty. Adel Tamano.

Google’s Philippine representative Aileen Apolo, whose talk will focus on beginners, Digital Filipino’s Janette Toral, who will discuss blog advertising and Lyle Santos, who will talk about making money online will also be present. Representatives of other blogger groups including those in Davao City, General Santos City and Zamboanga will also give updates.

After the summit proper, participants have the choice of joining either the city tour (Xavier University Museum, Cathedral, Divine Mercy Shrine, Opol Aviary, Limketkai Mall) or the whitewater rafting adventure.

Also happening on October 24, right after the MBS 3, is the Philippine Blog Awards – Mindanao awarding ceremonies.

CDO Bloggers, Inc., a group duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, is the lead organizer of this year’s Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3. Previous summits took place in Davao City and General Santos City.

It will be on the 24th of October 2009 at Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro City. After MBS3, Philippine Blog Awards will follow, making the summit more memorable and fun for all the participants. This is really something to look forward to!

First 2 Summits were held at Davao and General Santos City. This time, it’s going to be in our very own City of Golden Friendship – Cagayan de Oro. With the theme “Mindanao Bag-ohon sa Panan-aw” or “Changing the way people see Mindanao”, this big event aims to give better understanding about Mindanao tourism, the people, our culture and ofcourse, promoting Cagayan de Oro and what the must-see’s and must-try’s are here (e.g. White Water Rafting, Caving, Trekking at the Man-Made Forest, etc.).

This event will surely give us all a chance to meet fellow bloggers from across the Philippines, expand our online networks, and of course build friendships!
